quote #3
i do think that parents have partial right to teach their children about topics like drugs. i think the school also has some responsibily to teach kids what to do when these topics come up in their life. if parents want to ban a book, they should read the entire thing before they even think about it. it could teach a good lesson that applies to real life situations and by banning a book they are taking away knowledge their children would have learned. some parents are to strict and jump to conclusions about books that they really dont know whats going on in them.

QUOTE #4
i do think that parents have the right to examine the books their children use. They should be very leniant about wanting books banned because we need to learn about topics like drugs, sex, and violence. students can apply lessons learned from books about these topics in real life situations, if they are good lessons. one day these topics are going to come up in our lives, if they already havent, and we need to be able to deal with them. these books we read could teach us how to do that and parents need to realize that.
