People have different opinions in what they find interesting and controversal.  Some parents are to over protective.  They think that they mean well but you have to let your kids be kids and make mistakes.  Also reading a book is much more eductional and less graphic than watching TV so i dont understand why parents wouldnt want their children reading any book even if it is against what they stand for.  They should at least read the book to come up with their own opinions about it and not listen to what others say.

I think that these topics should be discussed in classrooms.  I believe this because many parents feel uncomfortable to talk to their child about these kinds of things.  Also if you discuss these things in class students can develope an open relationship with their teacher and other students and get their advise if needed
